Mass Shootings

On February 21 st , 2018 a tragedy happened due to a mass shooting at a school in Florida. This is one of many mass shootings on government property at an educational safe haven. The topic of mass shootings makes society wonder what can the government do to fix the situation and when. Many ideas have been laid out as having panels in hallways to cut of sections of the school to stop the mass shooter. In addition to that allowing a teacher to bear arms, so that they can stop the shooter the same way they’re stopping lives or giving the resource officer a gun instead of having a Taser with Pepper Spray. One idea in mind is having more resource officers to guard all the entrances as well as including a metal detector to stop the shootings from ever happening. When the “Black Panther” was released in theaters on February 16 th 2018, there was an overwhelming crowd that resulted in ticket sales that sold out. During the President’s Day weekend, the movie had began to break the box office records, as it was the second highest four-day opening in movie history with $242 million. Although the Black Panther is fictional, this was the first comic book black superhero that many wanted to see. The Black Panther is an African by the name of T’Challa who became King after winning a challenge for the throne after the death of his father. The African nation, which he served as a King, was Wakanda, which is also fictional. NBA All-Star Weekend

This past weekend is one of the NBA’s most viewed moments besides the NBA Finals. All-Star weekend was in effect in Los Angeles for 2018 and had America glued to their television sets for three days. It started on Friday with the celebrity game as Team Lakers went against Team Clippers. The players on Team Lakers: Sterling Brim, Nick Cannon, Terrence Crawford, Rachel DeMita, Jerry Ferrara, Marc Lasry, Caleb McLaughlin, Candace Parker, Nate Robinson, Drew Scott, Tracy McGrady and Kris Wu played a hard fought game against Team Clippers: Anthony Anderson, Brandon Armstrong, Miles Brown, Win Butler, Andre De Grasse, Stefanie Dolson, Jamie Foxx, Dascha Polanco, Bubba Watson, Quavo and Jason Williams. Team Clippers defeated Team Lakers 75-66 through four quarters of descent basketball. The MVP for the celebrity game was Quavo with 19 points, 5 Rebounds and 3 Assists on 7 for 10 shooting. Super Bowl LII

This past Sunday will go down in history as the Philadelphia Eagles beat the New England Patriots for the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Headlining the Super Bowl was Tom Brady trying to become the Michael Jordan of the National Football League by attempting to gain his sixth ring. The match up ended up being a high scoring affair with the Eagles beating the Patriots 41-33. The Eagles led the way the whole game without letting the Patriots get no more closer than three points. Philadelphia thought their season was over when the rookie Carson Wentz went down with a season ending injury by tearing his ACL in Week 14. The back up Nick Foles had his trials and tribulations through out his National Football League Career and even thought about quitting one point in time due to those matters.
