Black Panther

When the “Black Panther” was released in theaters on February 16th 2018, there was an overwhelming crowd that resulted in ticket sales that sold out. During the President’s Day weekend, the movie had began to break the box office records, as it was the second highest four-day opening in movie history with $242 million. Although the Black Panther is fictional, this was the first comic book black superhero that many wanted to see.
The Black Panther is an African by the name of T’Challa who became King after winning a challenge for the throne after the death of his father. The African nation, which he served as a King, was Wakanda, which is also fictional. In this movie, the people of Wakanda were known to isolate themselves from the world because of their technological advances. The sister of T’Challa was Shuri, a princess with outstanding talent. She was the mastermind with her own lab in Wakanda and she was known to equip Wakanda with technology that was more sophisticated than the rest of the world because it included vibranium, a metal that is also fictional. With Shuri’s use of the vibranium, she creates T’Challa Black Panther’s suit and armor for the entire Wakanda nation. The vibranium is Wakanda’s natural resource that is protected from outsiders. Thus, anyone who was not born and raised in Wakanda was not welcome.
In this movie, T’Challa faces opposition by a British scientist, Ulysses Klaw who repeatedly attempts to gain access to the vibranium with the help of T’Challa’s cousin, Erik Killmonger. Erik Killmonger suddenly appears in Wakanda and demanding his rightful challenge to the throne. Thus, in order for T’Challa to defeat his rival, the Black Panther powers are released to protect the nation of Wakanda. The culture of Africa was portrayed throughout the movie. Overall, in this movie, Wakanda was a nation that was advanced and included black women who were unique, powerful and protectors of their King and Wakanda.
Being a fan of Marvel, I was thrilled through out the whole movie and I highly recommend this project. All of the actors played their role well and collaborated effectively to send the box office in frenzy. The “Black Panther” is a movie that will have your eyes glued to the screen as the plot and action keeps you focused fully until the end. If more viewers can be gained by good marketing and promotion by high end celebrities then the “Black Panther” could reach one billion dollars in profit joining top 32 billion dollar movies: The Dark Knight, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Zootopia, Alice in Wonderland, Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace, Finding Dory, Jurassic Park, Despicable Me 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, Toy Story 3, The Dark Knight Rises, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Skyfall, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Captain America: Civil War, Minions, Iron Man 3, The Fate of the Furious, Beauty of the Beast, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Frozen, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Furious 7, The Avengers, Jurassic World, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Titanic and Avatar.
The list mention is a true compliment for a forgotten hero in the Marvel comic book series. As of February 25th, the movie has made more than $300 million oversees. Overall, the movie has grossed more than $700 million worldwide. Hopefully there is a sequel in the making to keep the Black Panthers spirit alive and well.
