March Madness
Another year another March Madness
as the NCAA tournament starts on March 15th to begin the event waited
for across the United States. The top number one seeds in the tournament are
Virginia, Villanova, Kansas and Xavier with a high percentage of Virginia and Villanova
facing in the finals. Many teams in the bracket, but only six games for the
teams that advance on to the finals for the last remaining two. A lot of team’s
means a chance for an upset with San Diego State ranked sixteenth versus
Houston ranked sixth being the highest percentage being in that category. The
other chance of an upset is Loyola Chicago ranked eleventh versus Miami ranked
sixth being the other.
So many things can happen during
March Madness which makes it the most watched event during this month due to
the unpredictability that can happen from a last second shot, free throw or defensive
stop. An opinion of mine is Georgia State can make a Cinderella run how
Davidson did in 2008 when Stephen Curry played point guard for them. The key
player or coach for Georgia State is Ron Hunter as he has made his way back to
bracket since his son had graduated in 2015. Ron Hunter has earned his way to
the bracket, as Georgia State’s basketball team is the number one team in the
Sun Belt with most blocked shots.
Since the tournament starts on
March 15th there will be a list of suggestions for which games to
watch to kick off March Madness. Here are a couple of first-round games to keep
your eyes glued to the television and a few more you can probably move around.
A good match up is one on Thursday evening at 6:50 p.m. Villanova vs. Radford.
Radford pulled a big win over LIU-Brooklyn in the first four to make it to the
bracket. The previous couple of appearances the team has played in the NCAA
tournament they ended up losing in first round. Lets just say that the streak
will keep going and turn the total to three. Watch the match up only if you
want to see what it would look like for two of Villanova’s star players play
against a high school team.
Another game to keep an eye on is Duke vs. Iona Thursday at 2:45 p.m. for a tier 5 match up. Duke has blown a ranked 2 vs.15 matchup before and has also blown a ranked 3 vs. 14 before too. The two stars on their roster should keep them in it to pull out the win. Tune in to watch them play to find out if it would be a blow out or will they get blown away.
